Week 2 – COMM11007

PRACTICAL: Register a Twitter account

I have an established twitter account at Clint Grossmann@ClintGrossmann , currently following 119 people and organisations that are of interest to me.

I have not used Twitter extensively due to my lack of understanding of the social media platform, its real value and how it works.   I am looking forward to learning what a hashtag is and how it is used. #noidea

INQUIRY: Review the top Twitter trend

Todays top trending twitter subject is the release of the movie trailer for ‘Justice League’.

Unknown to anyone, the new ‘Justice League’ movie trailer was released on Sunday July 24th causing mass online media hype amongst superhero fans.

Within hours online media outlets including Screenrant, Gamespot, Daily Genesis, The Verge, and Den of Geeks reported the release of the trailer.   The official Warner Bros You Tube channel had received 1.4M views.

Warner Brothers Pictures offical twitter site posted this tweet.

The Daily Genesis is one example for tweets for the Justice League Trailer.

Due for release in November 2017, the Justice League movie trailer release was a surprise release adding to hype of the new Wonder Woman movie trailer release.

It is evident that Twitter is about fast information.  The Twitter top trending items have a short life before the next news worthy item is taken up.  Online organisations need to be on the ball, ensuring they are at the front of the pack when it comes to this type of surprise media release.

TECHNICAL: Complete Quiz 2 – Grammar Rules

Finally got to 100% of the blog Quiz for this week.

Reflection:

In reflection of the blog; I found this difficult to understand the interlinking aspects of the twitter posts. I found myself attempting to understand where, who and how the originating tweet was posted.

Investigating further, where I thought there would be tweets, there wasn’t.  Gamespot, and Screenrant both posted articles on their web sites and were high ranking when googled, yet neither had actually used twitter on this issue. I was also expecting Warner Bros twitter site to have a formal tweet, yet it was a shared tweet.  Frankly, and I will be honest here, I really am confused how this all works.

It appears that, the trailer was released on You Tube by Warner Bros to their offical subscribers, who went mad on twitter and every other social media platform to let their followers and subscribers know.  The subscribers include the media outlets previously mentioned who grabbed the story and ran with it on their web sites.

I don’t use twitter because I don’t currently understand it.  I am however looking forward to learning more about this social media tool in the coming weeks.

So a question of my own – what would be the point in me retweeting the Justice League tweet that the Warner Bros Movies site or anyone else for that matter have already retweeted?  Hopefully these questions and more will be answered soon.

  1. Hi Clint

It seems like you’ve really got the hang of blogging! Another great post this week.

    Just some feedback for you:

I found the first two sentences disjointed and a little difficult to read. My suggestion for improvement is:

I have previously established a Twitter account @ClintGrossmann and am currently following 119 people and organisations that are of the greatest interest to me.

You might also consider rephrasing ‘Unknown to anyone it appears’ as it is confusing to read.

Congratulations on receiving 100% on your quiz. My only other suggestion would be to provide some feedback about why you think you did well and how (if at all) English for Journalists helped you through grammatical hurdles.

I look forward to reading and reviewing your next post.

    Well done,

    Jesse

    • Great feedback Jesse, thanks. Great pickup on the ugly sentences that have now been merged to read much better.

Honestly please review my stuff all the time!! I will endeavour to be a better reviewer of your work, because it really helps.
